Practice Background: Practice Background: A true pioneer in Milwaukee and Wisconsin heart care history, Dr. Jack C. Manley is a cardiovascular interventionist with Wisconsin Heart and Vascular Clinics. Dr. Manley joined the team of physicians that would evolve into Wisconsin Heart and Vascular Clinics in 1968 when he partnered with Dr. John Huston to perform catheterizations, use pacemakers and perform other procedures at St. Luke's Hospital in Milwaukee. That same year, Dr. Manley spearheaded the group's efforts in developing the Milwaukee Cardiovascular Data Registry which led to important discoveries about key risk factors in cardiovascular patients following coronary bypass surgery. In 1973, Dr. Manley pioneered the first cardiac stress laboratory and also developed the first cardiovascular rehabilitation program in Milwaukee. Ten years later, along with Dr. James F. King of the group, Dr. Manley established the first Cardiology Nurse Clinician (Ms. Edith Gardner) dedicated to work as a team with the cardiologist with their hospital patients to ensure optimum care to the patient and communication with the families. Dr. Manley is a past president of the Wisconsin Heart Association and has served on the national board of the American Heart Association. He has also served as Governor of the American College of Cardiology, Wisconsin Chapter. Dr. Manley is a member of the American Medical Society, a Diplomate of the Pan American Medical Association, a Fellow in both the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians, the State of Wisconsin Medical Society and the Milwaukee County Medical Society. A graduate of St. Louis University Medical School (1959), Dr. Manley served his medical Internship (1959-60) and his Residency in Internal Medicine (1960-64) at Milwaukee County General Hospital. He was a Fellow in Cardiology at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden (1964-65) and at the University of California at San Francisco, CA (1965-67). Dr. Manley has written more than 40 articles published in prestigious medical journals such as the Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery, Circulation, American Journal of Cardiology, American Thoracic Surgery, the Journal of the American Medical Association, and many others.
